The drunken monitor debacle

March 6th, 2007 + 7:03 PM  ·  rackdaemon

Well the other night, after a fifth of Black Velvet, a friend and I decided to break out my new monitors and wire em up.  They sounded pretty good at the time, everything seemed ok.... a day or so later, I mixed a song on them and uploaded it here at Bandamp.  Luckily a poster at Audionews informed me of the EAR BURNING TREBLE that was a part of my mix (much to my own ignorance).  After checking the polarity of the wiring and setting some levels properly, things are back to normal hopefully.  Sorry to anyone that was exposed to that withering blast of 2k to 20k at probably 5-6 db hotter than it should have been!  peace - r.

Scouring the earth

March 6th, 2007 + 2:03 AM  ·  rackdaemon

Well the search is on.. I'm scouring the earth looking for a vocalist to collaborate with.  I have a mountain of loops and half finished tunes, just verse chorus bridge.. I've always felt that music is about the voice, and I can't sing to save my ass, so I've got to find someone to collaborate with.  The style I'm currently writing in is heavy guitar, metal-funk rhythms, some industrial influence, slap bass, hardstyle synths here and there.  Influences (there are hundreds but these are the ones that are reflected in the music right now) include Rob Zombie, Faith No More, Reznor, maybe some Megadeth for the metal side.  Definitely not afraid of strings and piano in the right place either.  The person I'm looking for on vox could be male or female, white, black, purple, I don't give a sh*t as long as you sing, scream, or rap with power and conviction.  I have to confess that I'm into actual singing a little more than straight out screaming metal type stuff, but a little of both is ok.  I have 2 posts of audio material on the site now, the first one is more rap oriented during the verse, and the second one is maybe more suited to tune oriented singing.  Anyone interested in throwing down, or hearing more, if you want the tracks split up, wav file versions, the arrangements changed to suit your lyrics, whatever, drop me a line at rackdaemon@hotmail.com ...  peace.

Run Like Hell (cover)

February 18th, 2009 + 2:02 PM  ·  rackdaemon

This is of course a cover of the great Pink Floyd tune, covered by myself and my friend Todd Natale.  I was sort of proud of the keyboard solo, which I thought came out well, a good sim of the ARP 2600.  Let me know what you guys think!  Also, this song comes with a bit of a quiz:   There are only TWO samples (that is, sounds I didn't create) that were used in this song, each was used only once, and they are both short - about a second each.  See if you can guess what they were.  Have fun!!

RACKDAEMON TWO eq adjust

March 6th, 2007 + 6:03 PM  ·  rackdaemon

This is a repost of a previous upload.  Never let a drunk wire your monitors!  After I got everything straight (and with the advice of a poster at Audionews) I discovered the high end was blistering on the first one.  Whew!  This one is a bit better.  Always check your masters on another system!  Damn!  Anyway, this is a song I'm circulating in my search for a vocalist.  If you sing or rap, and you want to give it a shot, message me, or just download and go for it, and post it up.  Thanks (and sorry for hurtin your ears on the first one, hehe). peace - rack.
